ABOUT GITGA’AT NATION
- Gitga’at Nation is one of the first nation of Canada.
- Gitga’at Nation have lived in Kitimat which Gitga’at calls home.
- Gitga’at Nation have defeated the energy company Enbridge through the court which want to build transport tanker route in Northwest of Canada and Kitimat with other first nations and Organizations, such as Cetacea Lab.
- Gitga’at Nation will continue to fight LNG industry and protect their home and water.

- Gitga’at Nation lived in Kitimat about 10,000 years before and after colonization
- Other organization will welcome to Fin Island, Kitimat to collect sonar data of the whales live in Kitimat.
GETTING EXPERIENCE
- Gitga’at Nation’s cooperative organization Cetacea Lab will welcome interns from the world to collect data of the whales with co-founder of Cetacea Lab Janie Wray in Kitimat and provide it to Gitga’at Nation to fight against the energy company.
- Interns will be taught to use whales’ two tail pieces to distinguish different whales.

- In 2006, an energy company Enbridge planned to transport oil on supertankers through Kitimat and was defeated by Gitga’at Nation through the court
